AFC U12s vs Passage AFC

Our second game in the National Cup - we faced Passage from Cork.
We were looking forward to this match for weeks unfortunately nothing went our way before the game... we missed two of our most important players because of possible concussion (safety first) and the Showgrounds pitch was barely  playable. Despite these bad news we started with drive and verve into the match.  It was an up and down game in the first half with more possesion for us but Passage was more clinical and scored the first goal. We agreed at the halftime break to pass the ball more and much harder than in the first half and play "ARDFIELD SOCCER".
The second half was like so many games this season, we played dominant and showed Passage whos ground it is. We had even more possession than in the first half and our passing was improved. We had two or three good opportunities just after the start of the second half but weren't greedy enough to score.  We have also to admit that Passages defending was excellent all through the game so it was really hard for our strikers even to  get a ball. Well done Passage.  We tried the last couple of minutes everything, even our goalkeeper Finn Murray was in the opponents box but we weren't able to score anymore and lost this game. Congrats to Passage.
The coach says: I am happy with the performance even not everything was perfect. We showed a great attitude. We were really great tactically and really sharp in our challenges. As a coach I'd might try to find another solution for the last five minutes. My tactical changes weren't successfull at all. But that's part of this game. We tried but failed. It is important now that we stand up once more and I am convinced we will.
A word to our alleged home advantage... it wasn't existing. Such a bad pitch is certainly a disadvantage for the more skillfull team and thats a pity.
However we need to work hard in the next couple of weeks (but always with a smile on our faces). We need to remind ourselves to shoot from outside the box and improve the passing with heavier balls.
CAN'T WAIT to play the Trophy competition and who knows maybe we'll see Ardfield playing more than one more round in this competition.

AFC U10s vs Bunratty

We faced a physically really strong Bunratty for our second last game of the season.
Our U10s tried to play the "Ardfield way" which was great to see.  Unfortunately we weren't courageous  enough to move up the center half line. So we had huge gaps betweend our forward and our backs. I know it sounds bit highfalutin but exactly things like these are the basics in my opinion. We have to steal their space and should try to get the ball in their half rather than wait for them with a defense line in ours.  We have to be greedy for the ball all the time!
However despite the defeat the game was great and players like Oisin as a natural born leader of the team or Senan played outstanding - it is quite exciting to see this squad getting better and better every game they play.

What a reaction after our defeat in Castletonwbere - first time ever we scored that many goals and it was just pleasure watching them play.
Everyone was great tonight but we have to keep up our good work in training.

AFC U10s and U11s vs Beara United

Great trip "far west" with both of our teams - we faced Beara United in Castletownbere. We've seen two completely different games... our U11s won comfortable and played under the guidance of Diarmuid and Shane very well. It is exciting to see what happened to our U11s in the last couple of month  and I can't see anything they can't achieve right now (just stay humble guys).
The U10s game was a complete other pair of shoes as we say. We started really good and were only one goal down at halftime. Unfortunately we lost our structure how to play completely in the second half and got a defeat against a strong Beara side. As it is my job to give the lads structure on the pitch I take this game on me...
AND I couldn't be  more proud as they tried to stay strong and were a tough team to beat for Beara. There is no doubt that we can bring the U10s to the same level as the U11s but only if we keep the work and never lose the joy in it.
Last but not least we should never forget that it is so much more than a game and this is literally visible in the faces of the kids after this two games in Castletownbere.

AFC U10s vs Riverside Panthers

The coach says: great bunch this U10s team but despite the todays impressive win we have to stay focused. We still have to learn what it means being an Ardfield player - it's not just soccer, it's so much more than a game - it's an attidude, a team sport,  it's a quest and most important it should always be a joyousness being on the pitch as a part of the squad!

report by Haris

The coach says:  we faced the strong teams of Riverside and Lyre and we had to play our best soccer to be competitive! It's fantastic to see our boys playing against strong but fair opponent teams. Thanks to Chris for coaching on team of our U10 bunch -> you gonna become an amazing head coach once!

We

are

AAAARDFIELD

The coach says: one of the best performances so far from our new U10 squad.  I am so happy for the lads that they saw why I am sometimes kind of annoying in the training when we repeat passing drills again and again - we saw today that it is the right way to do it.   We passed the ball like we practiced so many times and it looked quite exciting. Proud of the team!

Astro blitz U11s

report  by Jake and Johnny

The coach says: Brilliant performance from our U11 - we played three times Clon and were three times in the driving seat  - quite impressive.  The focus has to be for the next weeks and months to improve our scoring skills so we can go off the pitch with more wins than we had in the last blitzes.  I am proud of the players they stayed calm when it came to some unsportsmanlike behavior on the pitch... that's my job to back them up.

Astro blitz U10s

report  by Senan and Euan

The coach says: We played with two teams named after two of the greatest footballer of all time (Pele and Maradona) - both players were magical but the most extraordinary thing they had is that they loved this game. They always tried to win a match and never went on a pitch just not to lose! That's the spirit of players who love the game and that's the spirit we've seen so many times from the mighty Ardflied players too!
PS Special thanks to Chris for his magnificent effort as a coach of the "Pele team"!!

Futsal U12s

First Futsal Blitz in Dunmanway for the U11 and I was delighted with how they played.  We played always forward and you could literally feel that they enjoyed the game itself doesn't matter if they won or not.
I am pretty sure that it can be annoying sometimes when I insist on how I wanna see them play but it is nice that they follow my advice anyway and try to go into a match to win and not to avoid a  defeat - that's the Ardfield spirit.
A huge compliment to Dane, Cathal, and Jake who played as goalkeepers. The second AFC team had the choice if they wanna play with Darragh (goalkeeper of the AFC 1 this day) and accept a sub or play with an outfield player in the goal and avoid a sub.
PS it is nice to hear from the ref after the tournament that Ardield played the best soccer so far in the Futsal Blitzes - way to go lads.

Futsal U10s

First Futsal Blitz in Dunmanway and I have to say it couldn't be more fun for the kids.
We went to Dunmanway with two teams and both played three games. The results weren't really important today and it was ok to be a bit chaotic on the pitch. The most important point was that we had a bunch of happy lads after the games - that's the AFC spirit!
PS congratulations to Ben for his debut!

29/10/22 Bunratty away

0:1 win

Last game of the season and another win for the mighty AFC. We played pretty much as we wanted - a lot of short passing, always trying to play forward etc.  ! Despite the deep, wet ground it was a great game from us with a lot of chances to score. Unfortunately, we didn't score at all for a long time so it was even more important that at least once we were clinical! James Bs shot was too good to save for the Bunratty goalkeeper. Quite a debut for James I'd say but also all the other newbies Ethan, Matthew and Tadhg did a great job!
Thank's to Bunratty for the great game and the hospitality - Looking forward to playing vs you guys again.
